Please find below a series of frequently asked questions.

Mobile Phone Queries

Can people see my mobile number if I use SMS?

No, if you register for Multi-Factor Authentication using your mobile phone number, only the National Helpdesk would be able to access this information under a legitimate circumstance.

Does Microsoft Authenticator store any business data on my mobile phone?

No, Microsoft Authenticator does not store business information on your device.

Phone signal is poor within the area I frequently work.

We understand that phone signal can be quite poor within some buildings, therefore, it is recommended that Microsoft Authenticator is used instead of SMS. Microsoft Authenticator can work without any signal at all, however, Microsoft Authenticator works very well with a WiFi connection. Please make use of the NHS free WiFi available which should ensure a smoother experience.

Shared Mailbox Queries

Will Shared Mailboxes require Multi-Factor Authentication?

No, as a Shared Mailbox does not have a password that is used to access it, Multi-Factor Authentication is not required.

We have a User Mailbox used as a Shared Mailbox, what do we do with this?

We are currently awaiting a process to become available to convert these accounts to Shared Mailboxes. Once this process is available, we will contact organisations that require accounts to be converted.
